How to Survive the Worst That Can Happen:
A Parent's Step by Step Guide to Healing After the Loss of a Child
Book Released and Available in Hardback, Paperback and on Kindle
Foreward by Melissa Gilbert
Sandy Peckinpah’s sixteen-year old son woke up with a fever and was dead the next morning of bacterial meningitis… her life changed forever.
She found herself in the depths of unimaginable despair. Then, someone gave her a journal, and writing opened her journey of self-discovery in learning how to live life without her beautiful child. Words illuminated her path of discovery and she began to document the things that helped her, and others like her, to find resilience.
This is a practical, inspirational guide to coping with the many facets of bereavement; learning how to talk about your loss, the aftermath of sorrow, handling fear and anger, helping your living children adjust, strengthening your marriage, experiencing miracles, and the promise that you will regain a quality of life where you’ll feel joy once again.
If you’ve lost a child or know someone who has, Sandy’s story is one you’ll relate to and find comfort in knowing you’re not alone.

Rosey...the Imperfect Angel CD download Format
This CD made it to the Grammy Ballot. It's lovely fairy tale for anyone who has ever felt different! You'll recognize the voice of Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls from "Little House on the Prairie") as she reads the story. Michael Alden produced and wrote the music performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Marlee Matlin did the liner notes. There's an insightful interview of Sandy and Julianne (the real "Rosey") at the end of the CD that offers inspiration and hope to parents and children struggling with challenges that "being different" can bring. Julianne shines in her eloquence to define her experience as a child born with a birth defect.
"Rosey" is one of twelve little angels who tend gardens named after the months of the year in a magical place..."The Land Called Above."
Little Rosey has the hardest job of all, tending the garden of January, the one filled with brambles and thorns, and piles and piles of dead leaves. Not only that, little Rosey looks different. "Boss Angel" named her Rosey because she had a mouth that reminded him of a rosebud: her lip was divided and curled up toward her little pink nose, looking just like a rosebud about to bloom.
However, this very unique mouth and Rosey's difficult garden gave the other angels lots of ways to tease Rosey. She often cried to "Boss Angel," "Sometimes...sometimes, I...I...just feel so different, Boss Angel."
"Why Rosey, my dear," he says,"You are diffferent...perfectly different. Sometimes, even here in our lovely gardens, the greatest challenges bring the greatest rewards...you'll see." And she did, through hard work, determination, and her own special qualities that took her through the adventures in this very special land. Rosey inspires confidence in all of us.
Redbook Magazine Interview about "Rosey" with Bree Walker, Newscaster and Mother
"Every night, Bree puts Andrea to bed with a story...a book called Rosey the Imperfect Angel. It's a story about a little angel who has a cleft palate, and it's a favorite with both mother and daughter. "The other angels seem to have an easier task," Bree explains fondly. "Little Rosey succeeds through trials and tribulations. The book shows how differences can make the human species very special, how if we were all alike, the world would be a pretty boring place.""

Girl on Her Own, the Independent Girl's Guide to Being Sassy, Savvy, and on Her Own (Kindle Format)
Teenager or Young Adult moving out? Learn the basics of living on your own.
As teenagers we look forward to being on our own. I couldn't wait to have my own apartment, my own food in the refrigerator, my own car...and my own life! No one ever taught me the basics. I stumbled my way through my first independent experience and made a lot of mistakes in the process.
When my own daughter left for college, I wondered if I'd taught her well. Does she know how to grocery shop or cook healthy meals for herself (very different than family size shopping and eating!)? Had I given her good communication skills, taught her about winning the interview, or how to walk alone in a big city? Did she know how to decorate her apartment on a budget and hang pictures without wrecking walls?
Had I taught her about maintaining her checkbook, how to use credit cards without going into debt, how credit scores work, or preventing identity theft?
What about skin care, make-up, health upkeep, living with roommates, or relationships?
In her response to my frenzied calls and texts, Julianne assured me that I had actually taught her long ago to get her keys in her hand with one key jutting out between her first and forefinger (ready for self defense) before entering a parking lot. I had, indeed, taught her to pay her credit cards in full and early every month, and she assured me she was taking her car to get an oil change. Whew!
This book was born out of that frantic panic to make sure my daughter was well prepared for life on her own. In fact...she helped me write it. The chapters in the book offer important tips in a fun, interactive way. There is even a secret pantry list for being able to whip up any meal at any time, info on how to have great credit, and tips for maintaining your car! Written for the teenager heading into becoming a young adult, you'll find a pretty complete guide to living a fun, fulfilling independent life.
The first half focuses on personal care, the second on the logistics of life. Whether you are the girl, just about to become independent, or you're a Mom, about to send your daughter off for college...this book will make life a whole lot easier!
