Notes from the Broadcast

Every day is the beginning of the next year. How about making today your “NEW YEAR.” You don’t have to wait for the ball to drop in New York City…. Every day is renewal.

Life is not about what you want, but what you most want, and what you most want comes to the forefront of your life… you feel on fire…

Make no mistake about that… what you feel the most enthusiastic about is where your talent lies.

Many people think talent is all about the arts, like singing, dancing, or writing, but true talent is all about how you show up in the world and how you approach your work.

Marie Forleo, a speaker and business leader I follow says:  “Your passion for what you do shouldn’t just be a yes… but a hell yes! If not, then it’s a NO.”

If your passion is a “hell yes,” then that’s where your zone of genius lies. (Zone of Genius is a phrase coined by author Gay Hendricks in his book, The Big Leap)

Your genius, what you do best, is likely something you love.

Does it mean you have to do it better than anyone else?

No, because everyone has their own unique way of doing something.

For example, there are lots of real estate agents. We all took the same tests to get our license. But, how many of us would prefer an agent who is enthusiastic about what she does, and carries that enthusiasm into your transaction.

You can’t fake passion and when it’s your genius, it looks natural because that’s the beauty of being in perfect alignment with who you are.

As a writer, I notice that when I write… time flies when I teach others how to write their stories… I light up!

I’m in my genius spot. Is it hard sometimes?… yes… but it’s so worth it.

Look at your passion, is it a “hell yes? If so, then keep doing that.

Think about goal setting for the rest of the year. Is it a RESOLUTION, a resignation, or a hell yes!

The higher you make your vibration the more likely you are to achieve your goals… things will be magnetically drawn to you.

And then you have this “bonus with purchase,” the thing that author Joseph Campbell’s quote so beautifully expresses: “I WANT THE PRIVILEGE OF A LIFETIME TO BE MYSELF.”  We don’t need to wait for the new year to set goals, we get the opportunity every day for renewal.

Think about goal setting for the rest of the year. Is it a RESOLUTION, a resignation, or a “hell yes!

The higher you make your vibration the more likely you are to achieve your goals… things will be magnetically drawn to you.

What is your highest hope for this year? The one that raises your hand with excitement? Your highest hope might be to have a relationship and yet if you look at your life and your home, have you created a space for it?

Your highest hope may be that you want to create a business of handmade candles, but your expectation is that it won’t really happen. Negative thinking is holding the reins on you from ever being able to achieve that dream. It sabotages your enthusiasm!

Let’s say, for example, you’ve always wanted to write a book… and you don’t follow through, try raising your vibration. Visualize how good it will feel to have that book in your hands…. Visualize it, feel it… imagine having that book to give to others.

That’s called HIGH VIBE GOAL SETTING. It’s putting the goal in motion.

Goals have to evoke real passion or you won’t do them. Give your goals some excitement and challenge. They might shift and change as you approach the finish line… and that’s okay.

For example, I wanted to return to radio as a talk show host, but then Livestream Broadcasting was born, and it gave me an even broader reach than I ever had on KNRY Radio! And… I do 4 shows a week… not just one!

One of my highest hopes was to write my book for parents who’d lost children.

I desired to write my personal story. But all kinds of negatives and positives came to light.

I actually discovered my highest hope was to give other parents an option that their lives will not be destroyed forever. You can rebuild.

But I went deeper. When I dug deeper, my highest hope was to connect with my purpose, which was also supporting the legacy my son had left me in charge of… to make his life matter in life and in death.

I’m so glad I set and completed that goal.

What roadblocks are you feeling toward your highest hope?

Is it money? Confidence? Time? Commitment?

Tony Robbins said people often overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in 5 years. Keep striving to achieve.

What if your highest hope is actually your connection to other people and sharing something you do really well, and that you love to do?

What negative do you need to release in order to have your highest hope? Money, time, effort, doubt?

Is there a way to solve those issues one step at a time?

What if you could solve all of these issues, would you still have negativity attached to your highest hope?

Start thinking about others who are doing what you want to be doing. What obstacles do you think they had?

What steps do you think they took to remove those obstacles?

Did they suddenly have self-confidence? No, they built confidence by doing one thing, and then the next, and the next.

If you knew you could not fail, would you suddenly have self-confidence?

Surround yourself with a community of people who can connect with you on these ideas.

Put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Do something that is scary. Reach out to people you wouldn’t normally reach out to, but who can guide you in your vision.

Doing this introspective assessment is a great way to raise your vibration toward connecting with your highest hope.

Homework--

Here’s the secret: Write your goals with wholeheartedness and an “achieved by” date.

  1. Set the stage, then close your eyes, and visualize your highest hope for 5 minutes.

  2. Write that down in a paragraph.

  3. Feel the passion when you’re writing. A goal without passion doesn’t rise to its greatness.

  4. Write an “achieved by” date. A goal without an “achieve by” date puts it into the category of “someday.” Those goals often go unfulfilled.

  5. Write the things you’re sure of, like your talents, your gifts, and your expertise. For mine, I can say, I am good at connecting with people, I can write, I can cook…

  6. Write the things your “negative self” is telling you.

  7. Visualize all of those roadblocks and negative thoughts, then dismiss them. They are no longer needed in your life.

  8. Write down your next step for achieving that goal. Just the very next step, not the whole picture. That leads to the next, and the next, and doesn’t feel quite so overwhelming.

  9. Give thanks for your insight… you did it. That’s the secret of high-vibe goal setting. Hope you get started today!
